OT/IT Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description
Position Overview:
This role is based at our Athlone facility. The OT/IT Infrastructure Engineer will be part of the site Automation team, responsible for supporting and optimizing Manufacturing Systems in a GMP environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expertise in the design and implementation of new or upgraded technologies within a GMP manufacturing setting.
  • Ensure compliance of manufacturing systems, including developing SOPs, data backup/restoration, and user access management for GMP systems.
  • Work independently or guide the in-house Automation team to develop, manage, and optimize OT/IT manufacturing systems on-site.
  • Design and implement automation solutions following site change control procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Global IT infrastructure team to maintain technical alignment.
  • Define and implement maintenance strategies for all manufacturing system assets.
  • Monitor, alert, and respond to network and system issues affecting functionality and availability.
  • Maintain relationships with critical suppliers, managing escalations and resolving technical issues.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to support manufacturing operations successfully.
  • Align corporate-standard and manufacturing-specific technologies for robust operations and support cybersecurity assessments.
  • Schedule, implement, and report on preventative maintenance, OS patching, and upgrades for the Manufacturing Systems network.
  • Enhance the Automation Applications & Infrastructure skills within the Manufacturing team.
  • Assist in training personnel on Manufacturing Systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Strong knowledge of Virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) in an OT environment.
  • Experience with databases, patch management, and LAN/WAN networks.
  • Solid knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and administration tools.
  • Ability to challenge, defend, and present technical system design aspects constructively.
  • Proven experience in supporting complex IT projects from design to validation.
  • Direct experience in a manufacturing facility environment.
  • Experience with change control implementation and system deviation investigations.
  • Understanding of cGMP requirements for clinical and commercial biopharmaceutical manufacturing and the ability to apply GAMP best practices to ensure compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry supporting mission-critical OT/IT systems.
