Why this role matters
This role is key to the successful implementation of Labforward products, combining technical expertise with a focus on customer needs. By handling custom integrations and on-site connectivity support, you will free up resources in project management and core teams, enabling them to focus on product development. A vital part of this role is contributing to the creation of a reusable and broadly applicable workflow template library, working closely with project management and sales. Your efforts will accelerate technical solutions for customers while building scalable tools that enhance long-term value and impact.
What you'll do
- Take part in daily stand-ups with the project management team, often together with the customer
- Participate in project meetings and workshops to expedite implementation of solutions on a technical level
- Develop solutions (middleware / workflow) to enable integrations between Labforward products with customer’s existing systems, e.g., ELN, LIMS, IDP, SAP, etc.
- Analyze and script digital workflows to transform customer processes into digital solutions built using Labforward products
- Participate and support customers with the installation and configuration of Labforward products including: k8s-based server installations and configuration of connected instruments with Laboperator Connector Box
- Provide technical second-level support to customer questions and inquiries
- Work proactively and collaboratively with the project management, partnership and sales teams to investigate new technical and commercial partnerships (e.g. software and hardware integrations), and help prepare POC and demo content for prospective customers (e.g. proposed technical implementation and workflow concepts)
What we’re looking for
- We're seeking an individual who can rapidly master a multi-faceted product and does not shy away from the complex and interdisciplinary nature of the laboratory field.
- Integrating into the existing IT landscape (e.g. system architecture and unique suite of software/hardware solutions) of a customer is often complex and challenging - particularly dependent on how open their system is. Considering this, we’re looking for an individual who is creative and is able to think outside of the box.
- Laboperator is a highly complex technical product. It enables automation, collects, handles, and transforms data, controls and monitors laboratories and their device fleets, and assists with experimental documentation. All of which can occur at a variety of scales - from 10s to 100s or 1000s of devices and users. As such, the solutions provided need to prioritize end-user experience, all whilst being performant, scalable, testable, and traceable.
- The role requires frequent touch points with our customers. As such, we’re looking for candidates who are able to discuss complex, often technical topics, in clear, concise, and simple language.
- The role often requires business travel to provide on-site support, e.g. project kick-off; installation and configuration of laboratory instruments, etc.
Your profile
- BSc in computer science, electrical / computer engineering, computational & data sciences or similar, or relevant experience in a similar field of work
- 2+ years of software development experience in a team setup using modern tools (like Jira, Github, CI/CD, Node.js, Express, etc.), or 2+ years of scientific computational research (e.g. utilizing scientific computing clusters to carry out modelling, simulation, or batch data analysis) using modern tools (such as Python, R, Github, bash, etc.), or 2+ years working in the field of laboratory automation or laboratory IT in a team setup using modern tools
- Broad understanding in basic concepts of computerized systems
- Broad understanding in basic concepts of server and networking
- Ability to quickly learn and get an overview of new technical topics

- Pragmatic approach to problem solving, goal focused and result-oriented
- Proficiency in Javascript (preferably with TypeScript)
- Experience in one or more database systems and knowledge of migration techniques
- Fundamental knowledge of computer system architecture, understanding of how web services and web applications (API, REST, XML, etc.) work
- Familiarity with laboratory-relevant softwares preferred (e.g. ELN, LIMS, LES, etc.)
