Job description
We are seeking a Student Assistant in the Finance Department to support our finance team with daily operations such as accounting, financial reporting and audits, archiving and other finance related tasks. This role offers hands-on experience in non-profit financial management and an opportunity to work in an international context.
Your Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Head of Finance, and in the collaboration with the finance team, your key responsibilities will include:
- Accounting & Finance Management Support the finance team in regular accounting operations such as managing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
- Support finance team with the payroll preparation and processing
- Register invoices and transactions in the ERP system
- Assist in budgets monitoring and internal and external financial reporting
- Assist in collecting and checking supporting documentation for audits
- Archiving & Data Management: Support in managing digital archives i.e. archive invoices and supporting documents on a regular basis
- Prepare and archive monthly timesheets
- Keep financial data updated in the internal management systems
- Team Support & Coordination: Keep minutes and to-do lists for finance meetings
- Assist with general administrative tasks related to finance and accounting
Your profile
- Enrolled in a university program (preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field)
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and any financial software (Unit 4 is a plus)
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Good communication skills in English and preferably in German (B1 or higher)

- Flexible working hours (adjustable to university schedule) i.e. a certain level of flexibility in terms of working time if mentioned in advance and approved by the supervisor.
Conditions

Starting date: As soon as possible
Location: Berlin, Germany
Terms: Fixed-term one year contract with 20 hours per week (negotiable), with perspective of extension depending on performance and funding.
Requirements: You have to be a student who is enrolled at a university in Germany for at least
another 6 months, ideally longer.
